Did you know that LaFern is interested in safe boating?

Some of our people are members of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary.  As such they do the following: 

1.  Teach safe boating classes 

      Some of the subjects covered include:

Equipment needed   Trailering
Boat handling   Buoyage system
Legal rules   Piloting
Lines and knots   Weather
Use of marine radio   

 

2.  Check pleasure boats for safety items.

     Some of the items checked include:


Lights   Fire Extinguishers
Horns   Visual Ditress Signals
Perosnal Flotation Devices


 

3.  Patrols with and for the Coast Guard  This is probably one of the more interesting activities. 

          They do regatta patrols, safety patrols, and pollution patrols.
